How much does your lifestyle (clubbing, gyming, holiday memberships, etc) cost you annually?
Not an exact figure but in 2009, approx. $25k is what I must have spent on these. Most of the time I’m on business tours and hence get too little time to spend with my family. Hence, whenever we get a chance, we prefer escaping on holidays. Gyming is a everyday habbit and clubbing, generally, is a mix of business and pleasure. But I feel the cost is justified in these fast-paced and hectice schedules of life.

Hello Katherine,
Roughly about $15,000.00 per year. Sometime though I have to entertain clients for the meals and I can write some of it off as business expenses. Nevertheless I’m trying to cut back.
1) Eating out:
Like a rich millionaire Lebanese business lady told my wife, if you want to make your husband rich, cook at home. Eating out even spending $25.00 a day sounds trivial day by day but multiply that by 300 days it comes to a staggering $7500.00 a year which can be invested or a terrific down payment for something else. One guy was whining he wasn’t paid enough and couldn’t afford a new computer. We merely pointed that he had 2 lattes a day at $3.50. In 350 days that added up to $2450.00 which would by a hell of a computer system.
2) Gym
My basic fees are $62.00 a month or $744.00 per year. I spent though $3000.00 extra this year for a personal trainer. To me your health is a big investment that we tend to over look whilst working on our financial portfolios. If you drop dead from a heart attack or stroke, or put in a wheel chair, what’s the pont of it all? The training helped me get good exercise techniques, lost weight, built muscle, reduced blood pressure et al without one day of soreness or stiffness.
3) Night Clubs and Bars
I visit these only on very rare occasions. They are to expensive and one stiff drink can be over $ 5.00 in my country which is getting close to the minimum wage value. Can’t see how the hell many people would want to do an hour’s work for a lousy drink – I have mine at home and need not worry about driving!
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

I don’t really know, but if I added it up I am pretty sure it would be a lot.

I don’t go to clubs, and I have purchased a home gym (Bow Flex, Treadmill, Nordic Track) so that is a sunk cost…I guess though having paid about 2000 dollars for all of that in different years, the number of years I use the exercise equipment per year could be figured out, but not until I’m no longer using them.
I will usually run 1 marathon per year, about 50 dollars to enter, and a few hundred dollars for travel and lodging.
I guess my only membership fee is Costco or Sam’s Club, about 50 dollars per year.
