Those dutch sure … Those dutch sure know how to do it (kind of justifies happy hardcore, doesn’t it?). I sort of remember having a conversation with a friend about piezoelectricity back before any of us even knew the term actually existed (let alone the technology). She wanted to buy up a bunch of old Nintendo power pads and splice them together to create a power producing dancefloor. How should I go about macgyvering together a working prototype like this?
This is the … This is the recovery of energy that would otherwise go to waste. If they were normal floors, the vibrations would have absorbed into the floor and into the foundation. If there was a cheap and easy way to recover all wasted energy/heat the world would be so much better off. Cars put out waste heat through their radiators; light bulbs (even CFLs) put out wasted heat. So no, this isn’t free energy…
Its not free energy … Its not free energy. Its just a transfer of energy. Energy is always conserved and is usually lost into many forms unless it is transfered/”converted” to a different. This just a transfer of energy and is very possible.
Nope, these ideas … Nope, these ideas DO NOT WORK. You don’t get free energy ever. The energy generated by the dance floor for example is powered by humans. Those humans have to expend more energy than normal, so they have to eat more, and straight away it all falls down.
The last example is … The last example is stupid. The tram needs more energy to drive, because the rail will giving way, if it is made of piezzo elements. Knowing that you will waste energy at every conversion you make, it is an stupid example.
It might not have … It might not have much impact atm..
but its a good idea.. and if it works for this disco.. they might start using it on other things..

It’s not about …
It’s not about creating self-sustaining dance clubs or trains, it’s about making use of some energy that would otherwise be wasted.
It’s not a LOT of energy, but hey, it’s something.

it wouldnt need to …
it wouldnt need to have that much give. The floor already vibrates anyways from all the people moving in unison
