I guess The Green …
I guess The Green Mill in Uptown wasn’t worth mentioning in this travelogue. Then again, ‘Jass!’ music was a dirty word played by people who couldn’t appear in Travel promos back then.

It’s an interesting promo nonetheless.

This focused more …
This focused more on the “high society” nightspots. Besides, The Green Mill in 1948 wasn’t what would be considered a true jazz club. Unlike most of the now-gone clubs on the South Side, where the real jazz sessions were happening, the Mill mostly presented watered-down schmaltz, along the lines of what was also being presented at the Aragon Ballroom.

Along with the Chez …
Along with the Chez Paree, Rush Street had the great Mr, Kelly’s and, in the ’60′, the Whisky A Go Go. In the ’70′s came Mother’s and Butch Maguires! What a great place to go out – Chicago had it all…then.
